EWD to design 2007 lunar calendars
September 2006

The Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council has hired EWD to design four lunar calendars for 2007. Two calendars will be produced for the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands (CNMI) incorporating the Refaluwasch and Chamorro languages. The remaining two calendars will be designed for American Samoa and Hawaii. The Refaluwasch, along with the Chamorro (or CHamoru), are the indigenous people of the Mariana Archipelago. The calendars feature winning poster entries from students (K-12) of CNMI. The poster contest was to raise public awareness about archipelagic ecosystems and their management.

WPRFMC is a policy-making organization and is one of eight regional councils in the United States established under the Magnuson Fishery Conservation and Management Act in 1976.
